Guided visits are offered for groups of 10 or more children Mondays-Fridays 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. History Quest Trunks are available to enhance your visit.
See all that the History Museum has to offer including A.K.A. Houdini, Tools of Change and other exhibits. After an introduction to the Museum and artifacts, students will use activity sheets to guide them through the entire museum, including our magical Houdini exhibit. The History Museum will provide copies of the activity sheets and pencils.
All grades - 90 minutes
Cost: $3.50/student
Self-guided tours at the Museum are easy for teachers and chaperons to conduct with the help of our Activity Sheets designed just for your grade. This program allows your class to explore the Museum as you wish. Activity sheets will be emailed with your confirmation. You will provide copies of the activity sheets and pencils.

The Appleton Area School District, The History Museum at the Castle and the Hearthstone Historic House Museum offer 2nd grade classrooms an engaging day-long field trip to support the district’s local history curriculum. The trip includes a guided tour of Hearthstone, an activity sheet program at the History Museum and a guided bus tour of historic Appleton sites.

Escape to the museum’s Houdini exhibit for a docent-led tour and discover some of Houdini’s secrets. Learn about Houdini’s connection to Appleton and his magical career, and see some of his tools of the trade.
Grade 2 and up - 45 minutes per group of 15 students
Cost: $3.50/student
Combine this tour with our activity sheet program outlined above for a total of $4.00 per student.
Hand-dip a sheet of cotton rag paper in our replica of an 18th century paper shop, learn about some of the machinery used in paper making and discover why our area earned the name “the Paper Valley.”
Grade 2 and up - 30 minutes per group of 10 students

Info to know when planning your trip:
*Reservations are necessary for all groups of 10 or more visiting the Museum.
*One chaperon for every ten students is required. However, please feel free to invite more chaperons if you feel it would make the field trip more pleasant.
This tour provides about twenty possible places to visit, as well as information about each. Though there are plans to modify content to a 2-4 grade level when funding becomes available, at this time the information must be adapted, itinerary planned, and content delivered by the classroom teacher.
