Scout Programs & Tours

​​These ongoing experiences are included in museum admission and are self-guided unless otherwise specified.


BSA: Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge

Discover the past life of this National Register of Historic Places building by exploring our new Castle Curious pop-up exhibit. Scouts will learn about the museum's prior life as a Masonic Temple, look for hidden symbols, and explore the building's unique architecture. A guided tour is available upon request for an additional $1/scout.


Cub Scouts - Tigers: Collections and Hobbies Badge

Tiger Scouts can complete requirement 3a for the Collections and Hobbies badge by visiting the museum and exploring our exhibits. A guided tour of exhibits or our collections facility (Behind the Scenes Tour) is available upon request for an additional $1/scout.​​

Please note the museum does not provide badges.

All kinds of Scouts (and kids who aren't scouts!) can benefit from Scout Day at the History Museum!


Schedule of Events: 

10:00 AM: Museum opens

10:30 - 12:00 PM: Marble Madness

12:00 - 1:00 PM: Playing the Past

1:00 - 2:00 PM: Magical Mysteries

2:00 - 3:00 PM: My Family Story

4:00 PM: Museum closes


Rates (includes admission to the program and the Museum exhibits): 
Scout Admission: $9.50
Adult admission: $9.00

Pre-registration is required so we can ensure there are enough supplies for every participant.

Marble Madness
Scouts will learn about the history of marbles and some marble vocabulary, play a few marble games, make a marble maze and race track, and make a bag to hold marbles.

Scouts that will benefit from this program:
Brownie Girl Scouts can complete steps 3 and 4 for the Making Games badge and steps 1-4 for the Fair Play badge.
Bear Scouts can complete requirements 1-5 for their Marble Madness badge during this program.


Playing the Past
Scouts will learn about some women who once called the Fox Cities home and create a character based on what they learned. They will explore what their character’s daily life would be like and play historic games.
Scouts that will benefit from this program:
Junior Girl Scouts can complete requirements 1-4 for their Playing the Past badge during this program.



Magical Mystery

Scouts will make a magic show invitation, learn American Sign Language and Braille, crack a secret code and then create one of their own, and participate in some science experiments to learn how magic tricks work.

Scouts that will benefit from this program:
Tiger Scouts will complete requirements 1-4 for their Curiosity, Intrigue, and Magical Mysteries badge during this program.

My Family Story
Scouts will learn about family structures, create a family story tree, learn about their ancestry, and create a family crest during this program.
Scouts that will benefit from this program:

Brownie Girl Scouts will complete requirements 1-4 for their My Family Story badge during this program.


Throughout the day, an Activity Sheet will be available to all registered Scouts. Brownies can complete steps 1 and 2 for the Making Games badge using this worksheet.


​Children must be accompanied by an adult for Scout Day. If you will not be attending with your child, please arrange for your child to attend with your group's leader.
