The History Museum is looking for historic objects, photographs and stories relating to local sports. The Museum’s professional staff is researching and designing a new 3,000-square-foot exhibit to be unveiled next April titled, Sports & Spirit. From golf to soccer, kids to pros and everyone in between, Sports & Spirit will show how organized, competitive sports create ties that build community. The exhibit will highlight both individual and team sports from the late 19th century through the present and will contain multimedia content and hands-on opportunities for visitors.
The Museum would especially like to see objects that have photographs and/or personal stories associated with them. Items that the Museum is looking for include uniforms, trophies, medals, awards, home movies of games, sporting equipment, pennants, t-shirts, fan souvenirs, cheerleading gear and balls. Televisions and radios used to watch or listen to games from 1960 or earlier are also desired.
Items can be given on loan for the duration of the exhibit or as a donation. Individuals, teams, or corporations should contact Curator Sharon Clothier at (920) 735-9370 x 112 or sharon@myhistorymuseum.org if they have something they are willing to share. Please note: artifacts will need a strong local tie to be considered for inclusion.
