Movies begin at 5:30 p.m. with a brief historical introduction.

Silent Film: Safety Last (1923)

Meet a Country Boy (Harold Lloyd) who moves to the Big City to seek his fortune. Hired as a department store clerk, the boy talks his manager into offering a reward to anyone who can bring in more shoppers. His scheme to have his pal, a “human fly,” enter and win the contest by climbing the front of the store building begins to unravel when The Law shows up with interest in The Pal, a wanted man. The Boy must make the dangerous climb himself! Each ledge of the building brings new challenges culminating in the famous ‘clock scene.’

Silent Film: The General (1926)

As the Civil War begins, Johnnie Gray’s (Buster Keaton) enlistment into the Confederate Army is rejected. He is too valuable to the war effort as the Engineer of The General, a supply train. As the war progresses, the Union make plans to steal The General and use it to supply a surprise attack against the Rebels. It’s up to Gray and his sweetheart – a passenger when The General was stolen – to reclaim the train, re-cross enemy lines, and warn the Confederates before it is too late.

Cub Scouts from around the Fox Valley discovered the magic of The History Museum’s new Scout programming last year! This year two new programs and a returning favorite will be offered to area Scouts. Scout Clinics are offered on Saturday afternoons from 1:00-3:00 p.m. All clinics are $5 / participant (Scouts and siblings), all leaders and parents are welcome free of charge.
Registrations must be received at least 24 hours prior to the clinic. Contact Carolyn Lane to register. Your spot will be reserved once a competed registration form and payment has been received.
It’s a Kind of Magic! – Bear & Wolf Scouts
Learn magic tricks and secret ways of communicating while completing two Electives. Scouts will use the AKA Houdini exhibit to do several of Harry Houdini’s magic tricks. Electives completed: Bears Elective 13, Wolf Elective 1.

New Again – Tigers
Everything old is new again in this Scout Clinic. Visit the exhibits of The History Museum and then do a lot of the same things boys did in the early days of the Fox Valley! Completes Tiger Badge 1g, and Electives 3, 12, 13, 14, 16, and 19.
