Buelah Mancl

Lieutenant Buelah Mancl from Appleton worked as a nurse at the 118 and 102 Army evacuation hospitals in Europe in 1945. The hospitals moved across France and Germany by truck convoy. She administered plasma, gave medications, changed dressings, and started blood transfusions for soldiers injured in combat. The Army sent some 4,000 nurses to Europe to serve in 80 different medical units.
