Call to Duty: Outagamie County in World War II

Mancl and Baum

Mancl planned to marry her high school sweetheart, Vince Baum, before the war. The Army drafted Baum and sent him to France as a radio man for the 9th Tactical Air Command. The couple meet in Paris and married at Notre Dame Cathedral on June 15, 1945. Mancl returned to the United States on August 3, 1945, and reunited with her husband later that same year. The couple raised nine children. Buelah Mancl died at the age of 75 on September 16, 1995. Vince lives in Hortonville.
